Glasses at the Chanel Supermarket

Chanel surprised the whole fashion scene with their Chanel Supermarket runway for Paris Fashion Week. The runway took place in a fake Chanel Supermarket, filled with stunning people and incredible Chanel products. Going to the supermarket has never been so fab!

At Bonocle we were very happy to see so many glasses on the show. Who said you can’t wear your sunnies in the supermarket?!

Karl Lagerfeld himself!

Meet Smoke & Mirrors

Haven’t heard of Smoke & Mirrors yet? Well, remember the name as you’ll probably see a lot more from them in the future. The brand was newly founded in New York and has brought together a worldwide team of designers with design studios in New York, Paris and in the heart of Tuscany. By looking at the designs you can easily tell the inspiration comes from the late 60s and 70s rock scene.

VASUMA GOES SUNNY

Swedish Vasuma introduces kick-ass clip ons for some of their best selling models: Egg Eater, Congo and Snook. Big up! Available in brown, grey and classic greenish “G15”. I’m amazed about how cool they look on the glasses, they really transform your glasses into sunnies in two sec. Good call to go for the metal frame around the sun lens!

I think I might need to get me a pair of these frames just for the sake of the clip ons, I’m in love. Visit their online store here.

Visiting RVS Eyewear in Instanbul

Both Jasmin and I have a special love for RVS eyewear. Avant-garde design and amazing colour combinations at its best. In addition, all colour combinations are unique. Forget about mass production and boring product catalogues, from RSV you get a truly unique piece of art.

Visiting Vidal’s studio/showroom

I had the chance to meet Vidal, the founder and creative soul behind RVS eyewear. Vidal, who was born in New York but moved back to Istanbul together with his parents when he was a kid, is now based in Istanbul from where he runs his business. He invited me to his studio/showroom in the heart of the city to show me some of the novelties.

It all started with vintage frames

Vidal started off selling vintage eyewear. It wasn’t until years later he decided to create his own collection, which started with a few show pieces made out of left over acetate that he managed to get manufactured. When the pieces were done, Vidal asked Selima in New York to showcase his collection in the store, on a “sell or return” agreement. Luckily for Vidal the Selima shop turned out to be the perfect place for his collection – it sold out, which made it possible for him to continue his creative work.

Metal frames from RVS

Latest from RVS eyewear is the new metal collection, containing thinner frames but with the same playful shapes and colours as we’ve seen on his acetate collections before. Two fabulous shades featured below.

Keep up the good job, Vidal!

Glasses in Your Favorite Typeface

Type Glasses Typography

If you love typography and glasses, you’ll find this fun! The Japanese company Type has combined these two and put them on your face.

Just like a typeface gives the content character, glasses give your face character. Choose from the lines Garamond or Helvetica. I’m personally waiting for the Futura in Bold.

Each line has three versions of the spectacles — light, regular, and bold, of course — that delineate the thickness of the frames.

Bex Spex

Bex Spex is a San Franscisco based eyewear brand.

Founder Rebekah Kouy-Ghadosh is a licensed optician and has great experience with helping people finding the right frames. Through that process she was able to see people’s need for eyewear that fits a smaller face focusing on that for the inaugural line.

All of the eyewear is handmade in a factory in Northern Italy. Each pair is made using only the finest Italian acetate, customized using the Pantone color system just for Bex Spex.

Fogged Glasses

winter is here fogged glasses

Here in Stockholm winter has definitely arrived, it’s super cold, but it will get even colder. This means fogged up glasses. So when I styled the photo shoot for the latest issue of the Optik Magazine I thought it would be fun to style the model with fogged glasses! The frames are from Swedish Vasuma and called Congo.

My tip on how to stay away from fogged glasses is to choose lenses with the best surface treatments, always carry a cleaning cloth with you and stay away from the cold 😉
