Gogosha’s Eyewear Collection

The Eyewear guru Julia Gogosha-Clark sent me pictures of her fantastic eyewear collection. If you’re in L.A. make sure to visit her stores!

This is a large and very tasteful collection with a few one of a kind items. She stores them in a vintage dental cabinet and holds so many great brands but more importantly really nice designs, colors and unique shapes!

I really admire your taste and collcetion!

This is Julia’s Thierry Lasry Drawer!

The clown was a gift from Moritz from Mykita, It even has Julia’s name stamped inside. Julia sold one just like it to Lady Gaga.

Love the round sunglasses!

Julia’s dog Odessa guarding her massive collection, if anyone gets any ideas.

Only fine eyewear brands here: Theo, Claire Goldsmith, Anne et Valentin, Selima Optique and Cutler And Gross.

The pearl strand is a custom La Loop chain made custom for Julia.

The colorful cat eye is a bespoke from Claire Goldsmith, and says Made for Gogosha in the temple.

Bonocle Visiting Lunettes Brillenagentur

Lunettes Brillenagentur, Berlin

Photos by Merituuli Saario

Last weekend I visited the Lunettes Store at Torstrasse 172 in Berlin. What a beautiful boutique! They offer a huge collection of unworn vintage frames, both sun and ophthalmic. Besides that, they also have some handpicked brands (such as Clair Goldsmith, Moscot and Garrett Leight) and even more unique: their own line “Lunettes Kollektion” containing refined vintage shapes in interesting colors.

It’s a lovely story behind the lunettes shop. It all began with Uta Geyer. Uta was working as a scenery searching for vintage revisit for a theater when she came over the huge interest for vintage frames. Later on, she found such a beautiful (and cheap!) optometrists booth at eBay that she couldn’t resist to buy. One day, when sitting in a café she saw an empty boutique hall for rental… So all of a sudden she had an optometrists booth and a empty boutique just in front of her – this was a sign for the beginning of Lunettes Brillenagentur.

… More lovely pictures to come, stay tuned!

On the Street…2 X Uuksuu at New Cross Fire Station, London, UK

Oliver Goldsmith designed the crazy Uuksuu sunglass in 1964 and now Claire Goldsmith, his great granddaughter remakes the cool sunglass frame. The acetate shape is slightly rounded butterfly but the lens in squareish.

My dear friend Frida works at Oliver Goldsmith in London. This summer we both ordered the same sunglass – without even knowing it! Frida has the Mint Choc Chip and I have the Tortoise Split. Great minds think alike.

This is a new frame from Claire Goldsmith, which is perfect for you guys with tiny heads – it’s a “big” model, for small heads!

I love the texture of Claire Goldsmith’s frames, you can really feel the quality of the acetate by holding them in your hands. Quality is always difficult to judge only by a picture, specially when it comes to acetate.

Despite that, I hope you can at least imagine the lustre of the texture by the photos above.
