We’ve heard about many different ways of making eyewear. Lately maybe even more; skateboards and wood to mention a few. One of the biggest trends at Silmo was definitely classic shapes out of new materials, mostly wood though.
This is the first time I hear about eyewear made of recycling Vinyl records! Vinylize Eyeworks offer sunglasses made from vinyl records, all made and hand finished in their own workshop located in Budapest. Vintage meets futuristic style!
The Vinylize Method:
The latest new from Vinylize Eyeworks is a unique piece of eyewear, approached by Sub Pop Records artists Schabazz Palaces, you can listen to their music (here) trhough Spotify. The sunglasses will only be available in a truly limited edition.
“The Bling From Another World!”
I had a great vacation in India! We went to Palolerm in Goa, which really is a paradise. Unfortunately not in an Eyewear perspective, though – most of the tourists wore fake Ray-Bans… except for one man from Canada, who is a great eyewear fan and had wonderful sunglasses that he’d bought in New York.
The brand name of the sunglasses is called Harpers, a british company established 1978 by an optometrist. And, at THIS website you can order bespoke custom handmade frames or a reproduction of any vintage frame, handmade from the same factory as the Harpers where made!
Guys, if you’re a true Bonocle-fan you just have to see this movie above. It’s a short clip that gives you a look into how Capitals wonderful wood frames are made.
Capital is a small group of young people handmaking unique sunglasses in the USA, only using hardwoods sourced from the USA and optics by Carl Zeiss Vision. Dedicated to that Capital offers high quality products and is committed to having a positive impact on the world.
As you might know by now, both Jasmin and I like handmade eyewear with a story. Thats why we like Capital as well!
