SILMO 2012 // Garrett Leight California Optical
This year Garrett Leight California Optical had a monter at the SILMO fair in Paris for the first time! And what a great monter! Filled with the best collection so far and still keeping it classic and unisex.
GLCO has managed to combine the best materials with the best shapes.
These classics are hand made in America. Everything from hinges, acetate and plaques are of the best materials.
These beauties are lovely, slightly cat shaped and made of great custom made acetate.
Garrett Leight & Mark McNairy
The shape of Garrett Leight and McNeairy’s round metal frame is perfect. The collection, two metal frames made in Japan and one acetate made in America were first seen at Mark McNairy’s SS13 runway show last week.
“We looked back at the incnspicuous weirdos, maniacs, creeps, and people that don’t give a damn what anyone thinks.” McNairy says. Think guys like Aristotle Onasis, Charles Bukowski, Allen Ginsberg, Groucho Marx, even Donald Sutherland as Hawkeye in MASH.
I love the temple tip loop.

Meet Danish Kilsgaard // MIDO 2012
Kilsgaard at the MIDO fair 2012!
Danish Kilsgaard – Clean design in matte aluminum.
Some of the frames are also available with temples made of acetate for traditional adjustment possibilities.
I personally love metal frames with an unusual look! Nowadays you can find super cool metal frames. Sometimes it’s the same shape as an acetate one but redone in a metal version – like the frames presented above from Kilsgaard, lovely.

New Lindberg!
The new Lindberg frames reacently arrived! Some are super new and some are new sized and colors. I love the lightness of Lindberg frames.
If you have a problem with acetate frames not sitting well on your nose try Lindberg! They all have nosepads and the nosepads can be changed into larger, smaller, hard or silicone so there should be a pair that fits YOU!
Lindberg Acetate 1014 in two new colors; a beautiful transparent turquise and a three layered soft gray for this stylish round frame.
Lindberg Acetate 1145 is a new  large thin cat shaped frame.
Lindberg Acetate 1011 comes in a new transparent gray color.
Kirsten is a new Rim frame that has a soft feminine version of an aviator. Classy and modern. We chose a pink gold color for this frame but you can choose from about 60 (!) different colors. I really like the hinge made of titanium treads wired around each other. It’s durable, stylish and well made.
Blue frames for the Scandinavians
Two blue frames from the Danish eyewear brand Lindberg. Blue is a great eyewear color for scandinavian people!
On the Street…2 X Uuksuu at New Cross Fire Station, London, UK
Oliver Goldsmith designed the crazy Uuksuu sunglass in 1964 and now Claire Goldsmith, his great granddaughter remakes the cool sunglass frame. The acetate shape is slightly rounded butterfly but the lens in squareish.
My dear friend Frida works at Oliver Goldsmith in London. This summer we both ordered the same sunglass – without even knowing it! Frida has the Mint Choc Chip and I have the Tortoise Split. Great minds think alike.
