RVS by V – Truly Handmade

Jasmin and Barbara wearing RVS by V Palladium

We’re completely in love with RVS by V, Turkish eyewear brand offering handmade eyewear. We’ve been reading about them a lot but not until very recently we finally got the chance to touch them and try them on for real. They are so cool, definitely one of the hottest brands out there.

When RVS by V say they’re handmade, they really mean handmade. They don’t even have any catalogues showing any collections, because they custom made every collections! Here we’re wearing two custom made Palladium, and we LOVE them!

Matte pink/Blue mirror lens and Matte blue/Orange mirror lens

The frames come in a hard box, together with a soft handmade eyewear sleeve.

Feather light thin and light yet a lot of attitude thanks to the mirror lenses.

Limited Edition “Henry” by Capital Eyewear

Do you remember this post?

Anyhow, I really like the eyewear coming out from The Capital Eyewear HQ in California.  It’s a bunch of creative spirits experimenting with both wood and acetate in their very own studio and manufactory in California. They do cool handmade glasses, mostly made out of wood. Love the idea of combining oversize cool shapes with a natural material such as wood. They aren’t the only ones doing wood frames out there – from Silmo to judge it’s one of the biggest trends this year – but they are definitely doing it their way.

Limited Edition “Henry”, only 25 pieces.

November 12th they will launch a new limited edition frame named “Henry”. It’s a rounded shape made of two different woods: Darker and bold on top, thinner and lighter on the bottom. Only 25 pieces are made and will be exclusively available on their online store. Are you gonna get yourself a pair? You should!

When Vintage Meets Punk

Meet Emmy Moström
– a true Eyewear snake* in her frame Barba Amarilla from Vasuma.

Vintage meets punk. Love it!

*Eyewear snake: The overall theme for the Vasuma collection is that here in Sweden bullies make fun of others wearing glasses by calling them “Eyewear snake”. Vasuma Eyewear is all about the revenge of the bullied ones with glasses out there. Each style in the collection is therefore named after a snake. The revenge of the eyewear-snake is finally here.

Thanks for sharing your picture with us, Emmy!

SILMO 2012 // Frency & Mercury Clubmaster Style

The many ways of a clubmaster shape, all of them from the Japanese brand Frency & Mercury. I must admit I have a big passion for japanese glasses, they really know how to manufacture high-end frames with attention to details. Here is a classic shape made by Frency & Mercury, available in eight similar color combinations yet very different. Small details make big differences.

Available in shiny black, matte black, matte grey, with gold details, silver details, in shiny, in matte… you name it!

Matte grey with dark grey titanium details.

Matte black with matte silver titanium details.

SILMO 2012 // Kilsgaard With New Temples

At Silmo I also took the chance to pass by Kilsgaard. I like the way they still keep doing new things within the same concept from which you can clearly identify it’s a Kilsgaard frame without any logos. That’s what I call great design!

What fascinated me the most this year was their improvement on the temples. They now also offer acetate temples, which makes them more adjustable and comfort for the wearer, but what makes it unique is the way they made the acetate look so good together with the front made of steel. Here is an example, where temple and front are having the same color and feel by using a very interesting matte finish on the acetate:

Here is another shape I liked a lot. A good, modern looking female frame:

Some of the models are also available in more colorful combinations:

It was nice meeting you at Silmo!

SILMO 2012 // Streetstyle Oliver Goldsmith

At the Silmo fair in Paris I took the chance to visit the Oliver Goldsmith booth and have a chat with Oliver himself. I’ve got a very nice presentation of his collection, which I will share with you very soon.

First, I want you to meet one of the girls working at the OG booth who looked beautiful in her OG frame. That frame is definitely one of my favorites from their new collection. Slightly caty and colorful, what more can I say?

MEET HYDE’S SPECTACLES

Last week when we visited Ibeyostudio we also had a closer look on Hyde’s Specs. Some of our favorites follow here:

Hyde’s No12 – AMAZING color and interesting feminine shape in a vintage style.

Hyde’s No15 – Love to see new versions of the classic tortoise.

Hyde’s leather case – one of the best eyewear cases I’ve seen. Much nicer than the ones from both Persol and Ray-Ban, as this one is made of real leather.

Hyde’s Spectacles is a Swedish eyewear brand, focused on bold sunglasses. As a matter of fact, they only do sunglasses. Very cool ones. With no logos, no mass-production – Simply a cool and friendly brand doing sunglasses for cool and friendly people.
