One of the biggest talk-abouts of last years eyewear moments was definitely the collaboration between Damir Doma and MYKITA. At this years Berlin Fashion Week we finally got the great confirmation: the story continues!

This years glasses are kind of a follow up from the previous ones, but this time mixing acetate with stainless steel. I haven’t got the chance to try them on yet, but from the pictures to judge this might be one of this years greatest eyewear pieces (at least from my point of view). So what makes them so great? They have everything I love:

1. Double nose-bridge, check!
2. Round shape, check!
3. Available in my favorite colour: red, check!
4. Light weight, check!
5. Retro shape in a modern and innovative way, check!

Looking forward trying them on as soon as I get the chance! Excited!

Christmas Storefronts

The two cutest christmas storefront shop windows of optical stores I’ve seen this year are these two:

Working Santa by Bågar & Glas, StockholmChristmas Shop Window by Bågar & Glas, Stockholm

– Inspired by Oliver People’s classic “Working Opticians” picture (see here), in a true Christmas spirit with a pure red Oscar Magnuson frame.

Modern Christmas illustration by MYKITA Shop, BerlinMYKITA-Shop-Berlin_Xmas

– Lovely and colorful christmas illustration by talented Janine Rewell for MYKITA, with a joy- and playful spirit.

DD01 MYKITA Damir Doma

Designer Damir Doma and the eyewear brand MYKITA teamed up during a thee year project for the DD01.

The DD01 is using a mix of fine materials such as stainless steel and warm natural horn wich resembles Damir Doma’s collection using coarse, stiff fabric and soft flowing textures.

MYKITA showed such a great collection at the SILMO fair in Paris this October!

Cool new colors such as matte red, green and cobalt blue, accent colors such as neon pink and violet combined with large round shapes is a hit!

Barbara Canales in matte red sunglasses from MYKITA.

I really love the shape and thickness of this frame!

Super ultra thin and light – yet durable!

It’s fun to have a splash of a bold color and it works really well when it’s this thin!

A new acetate color, here you can really see the transparent parts which I love about it!

Classic double brigde.

Amazing cobalt blue color! I want to see these in clear lenses!

Lovely matte pinkish violet.

MYKITA HQ // In Love With Mirror Lenses

Visiting the MYKITA HQ

A week ago I went to Berlin for a longer weekend and passed by the MYKITA HQ. So nice meeting the PR department again and have a look at all the novelties. One of my favorite ones turned out to be the one on the pictures above, which is a new color combination of the MYKITA x Bernhard Willhelm “Xavier”. Wow! What a cool sunglass’! I’m completely in love with mirror lenses…

Some other favorites are the novelties from the DECADES collection:Classic shapes meets new materials and color splashes plus golden mirror lenses.

I also found some delicate and colorful optical frames:

Thanks for the visit!

SILMO 2012 // Streetstyle

My friend and former co-worker Lisa from MYKITA looking great in the Oscar Magnuson SS13 sunnies 8921.

They’re inspired by Iris Apfel – maybe you recognize the shape? It’s the same shape that came as an optical frame for AW12, which Jasmin wrote about (here).

SILMO 2012 // MYKITA Mylon SS13

You’ve seen MYKITA‘s previous Mylon series. It’s a total new way of making eyewear!

Read all about it here – from powder to a solid frame! (Instead of a block that is carved out). The weight and feeling of the Mylon material is similar to wood yet its flexible and very durable.

The first collection was super crazy. The second collection slick and sporty sunglasses. The SS13 collection shown at the SILMO fair in Paris holds thinner ophtalmic frames in round and aviator shapes.

GAAAH! I love these. Thin, round and blue.
