Ørgreen Press Event – Masculine Shapes

Here is a follow-up to the previous post from the Ørgreen Press Event, this time showing some of our favorite masculine shapes.

We especially like the bold lines in the frames, giving a true masculine look with a lot of attitude. Some of the frames are especially good for wide heads and big noses, which isn’t so easy to find all times.

Special collaboration

Ørgreen has merged a mutual mindset with exclusive furniture brand Republic of Fritz Hansen to produce a series of Arne Jacobsen Swan chairs featuring the same Copenhagen skyline design as a special edition collection of eyewear by Ørgreen.

Through this partnership, the similar design values between Ørgreen and Arne Jacobsen are believed to be especially expressed through one of the world’s most iconic designs. This is the first time Arne Jacobsen Swan chair is made in two different materials, wool for the front and black leather for the back. Likely to the København frames, the Swan chair is also available in 5 carefully chosen tones.

Special edition Københaven frames and Swan chairs will be available for purchase directly through Ørgreen/Republic of Fritz Hansen.

Ørgreen Optics Press Event

Last week I visited Ørgreen Optics press event here in Stockholm at wonderful Nobis Hotel. It was a pleasure seeing all the novelties, there are a lot of Bonocle favorites to come.

Örgreen Optics Press Event at Nobis Hotel Ørgreen latest collection, presented at Silmo 2012.

Nowadays the collection also contains many female shapes in interesting colors. All frames are made of titanium and acetate, handmade in Japan and designed in Copenhagen. At their workshop in Copenhagen they’re 15 people working with Ørgreen, where one of them is a full time colorist. You can really tell there is a specialist, seeing the color settings, nothing is left to chance. Most frames are two-colored, with amazing combinations.

This is a limited color edition, due to the fact it’s a vintage acetate from the 60’s which isn’t produced anymore. So you better hurry getting this edition before it’s to late!

For the ladies:

From the new Ørgreen collection you will find delicate female shapes in soft colors. Big up for their fine selection of femal frames, slightly caty and oversized in a balanced way giving a modern female look.

A separate post will come up tomorrow featuring more masculine shapes.

Meet Vinylize Eyeworks

We’ve heard about many different ways of making eyewear. Lately maybe even more; skateboards and wood to mention a few. One of the biggest trends at Silmo was definitely classic shapes out of new materials, mostly wood though.

This is the first time I hear about eyewear made of recycling Vinyl records! Vinylize Eyeworks offer sunglasses made from vinyl records, all made and hand finished in their own workshop located in Budapest. Vintage meets futuristic style!

SILMO 2012 // Introducing KameManNen

Meet Japanese KameManNen

– One of the worlds finest eyewear craftsmanship.

Made of strong titanium and the finest acetate you can get, the feel of the frames are unlike anything else made in mass production. This is pure craftsmanship. The frames are made in a small factory in Japan from old design ideas, giving the frames a pure classic look.

KameManNen is a traditional Japanese eyewear manufacture creating very firm yet light frames of exceptional quality, with beautiful handcrafted details and no logos.

As you can see from the pictures KameManNen offers a big variation of round shapes. You can choose from different sizes, oval shapes, circular round, slightly rounded, bold or thin, titanium or acetate – or both… etc.

We love it! As a true eyewear geek with a big passion for quality and craftsmanship you just gotta love the KameManNen frames.

RVS by V – Truly Handmade

Jasmin and Barbara wearing RVS by V Palladium

We’re completely in love with RVS by V, Turkish eyewear brand offering handmade eyewear. We’ve been reading about them a lot but not until very recently we finally got the chance to touch them and try them on for real. They are so cool, definitely one of the hottest brands out there.

When RVS by V say they’re handmade, they really mean handmade. They don’t even have any catalogues showing any collections, because they custom made every collections! Here we’re wearing two custom made Palladium, and we LOVE them!
