One of most prestigious opticians in Amsterdam
Carrying brands such as Catier Eyewear
Here you can sit down in peace trying frames with your optician
Here you find classic monocle’s of all styles
When I visited Amsterdam I discovered the prestigious optician Schmidts Optics at Rokin 72, 1012 KW in Amsterdam. The atmosphere is classical luxurious and has been looking almost the same since the establishment in 1866. A eminent old school optician offering prominent brands and classic optical items such as a wide range of monocle’s.
When I was in Amsterdam I ran into this cute Japanese boy from Tokyo! I was so amazed about his colorful vintage/street style, perfectly matched together with a vintage frame. When I say frame this time I really mean just a frame. No prescription or window lenses on. Just a cool frame as a great accessory!
Apparently this is a huge trend in Japan I’ve heard, is it true? Does anyone know where it stems from? So interesting! Hope to see more of it in Europe soon.

Made of strong titanium and the finest acetate you can get, the feel of the frames are unlike anything else made in mass production. This is pure craftsmanship. The frames are made in a small factory in Japan from old design ideas, giving the frames a pure classic look.

KameManNen is a traditional Japanese eyewear manufacture creating very firm yet light frames of exceptional quality, with beautiful handcrafted details and no logos.

As you can see from the pictures KameManNen offers a big variation of round shapes. You can choose from different sizes, oval shapes, circular round, slightly rounded, bold or thin, titanium or acetate – or both… etc.

We love it! As a true eyewear geek with a big passion for quality and craftsmanship you just gotta love the KameManNen frames.
Jasmin and Barbara wearing RVS by V Palladium
We’re completely in love with RVS by V, Turkish eyewear brand offering handmade eyewear. We’ve been reading about them a lot but not until very recently we finally got the chance to touch them and try them on for real. They are so cool, definitely one of the hottest brands out there.
When RVS by V say they’re handmade, they really mean handmade. They don’t even have any catalogues showing any collections, because they custom made every collections! Here we’re wearing two custom made Palladium, and we LOVE them!

The frames come in a hard box, together with a soft handmade eyewear sleeve.
Feather light thin and light yet a lot of attitude thanks to the mirror lenses.
Me in Spain, enjoying the sun in MYKITA Janis, golden mirror.
I just booked flights to Barcelona for New Years Eve. Wow! Can’t wait! Even though it won’t be as sunny as when I went there this summer it will still be much better than being in Sweden. Barcelona is definitely one of my top 3 favorite cities!

Anyhow, I really like the eyewear coming out from The Capital Eyewear HQ in California. It’s a bunch of creative spirits experimenting with both wood and acetate in their very own studio and manufactory in California. They do cool handmade glasses, mostly made out of wood. Love the idea of combining oversize cool shapes with a natural material such as wood. They aren’t the only ones doing wood frames out there – from Silmo to judge it’s one of the biggest trends this year – but they are definitely doing it their way.

Limited Edition “Henry”, only 25 pieces.
November 12th they will launch a new limited edition frame named “Henry”. It’s a rounded shape made of two different woods: Darker and bold on top, thinner and lighter on the bottom. Only 25 pieces are made and will be exclusively available on their online store. Are you gonna get yourself a pair? You should!
Meet Emmy Moström
– a true Eyewear snake* in her frame Barba Amarilla from Vasuma.
Vintage meets punk. Love it!
*Eyewear snake: The overall theme for the Vasuma collection is that here in Sweden bullies make fun of others wearing glasses by calling them “Eyewear snake”. Vasuma Eyewear is all about the revenge of the bullied ones with glasses out there. Each style in the collection is therefore named after a snake. The revenge of the eyewear-snake is finally here.
Thanks for sharing your picture with us, Emmy!
We recently visited Straight Design‘s Studio in Stockholm, Sweden – a design studio by Andreas Beijer and Viktor Erlandsson. Since vision is a crucial necessity in their profession we wanted to meet them and find out how they use their eyes when working.

Collection Line, by Straight Design. A chair, a table and a coatrack.
Andreas and Viktor thought of looking for a studio to be in some time in the future and only one week later they had moved in. ”Everything went so fast” Viktor says. And that’s pretty much how everything has been for Straight. They moved in to the studio in April 2012 and have already designed a handfull finished products.
When Andreas and Viktor visited Broby Sanatorium, an abandoned old Tuberculosis Hospital, they got the idea of making a chair made of one solid steel pole. The seat is a matte stained MDF sheet. After that they made two more pieces for the collection. I just love the eternal lines.
The first prototypes and design ideas coming out from Straight Design Studio.
”We are super critical” Viktor says. ”We can present an idea to each other and then the other one can be like ‘Yeah, but it’s super ugly, so no.’”

Fruit and vegetable plate by Straight Design, to be produced in collaboration with Cult. The carvings in the wood lets you place your greens like a pyramid. It’s a little bit raised which gives it a great look.
The fruit and vegetable plate is also perfectly suitable for your eyewear
